Fantastic service. Fast, good price and great quality. Our builder changed the spec and the team at Hills Plastic had to recut the polycarbonate…. they did that without a problem. Highly recommended and I’d give them more than 5 stars if I could!

I've been dealing with the small team at Hills Plastic for well over ten years for all kinds of projects, sheet product and cut & bend jobs. Their service has been first rate throughout and they get jobs finished when they say they will and the work has been spot on. Stands for expos, boat screens and bits as well as some detailed bending, a one stop shop.

Happy Customer
Felix at Hills Plastics was fantastic! He was able to provide customised Perspex cutting to fit my existing wooden table perfectly. Very helpful and communicative — he even called to let me know when it was ready. When the sheet didn’t fit in my car boot at collection, he kindly offered free delivery, which was so thoughtful and compassionate. Excellent service and highly recommended!
Can you drill Perspex?
Yes you can!
Start by securing the acrylic on a flat surface. Use clamps or weights to hold it firmly in place, ensuring the material remains stable and does not warp or spin during drilling.
Set your drill to a medium speed and position it perpendicular to the acrylic. Gently press the drill into the material, allowing it to cut through at its own pace. Avoid applying excessive force, as this can damage the acrylic.
Ensure all holes are fully drilled and align properly with the corresponding marks on your wall or other surface. Once finished, clean the acrylic surface using warm soapy water, a microfiber cloth, and plastic polish like VuPlex to remove dust and minor scratches.
Can you manufacture Boat Windscreens?
Yes, we can manufacture boat windscreens.
To ensure the perfect fit, we require either the original windscreen or a detailed cardboard template that accurately matches the dimensions and curvature of the windscreen area. Providing these allows us to replicate the shape and size precisely, ensuring the new windscreen fits seamlessly onto your boat. Our team can work with various materials, such as acrylic or polycarbonate, depending on your specific needs for durability, clarity, and impact resistance.
What is the difference between Perspex and Polycarbonate?
Perspex and polycarbonate are both transparent plastics, but they have distinct differences in properties and applications.
Perspex, also known as acrylic, is lightweight, highly transparent, making it ideal for display cases, signage, and glazing. However, it is more brittle and prone to cracking under stress compared to polycarbonate.
Polycarbonate, on the other hand, is significantly tougher and more impact-resistant, making it a preferred choice for safety applications like bulletproof windows, machine guards, and protective shields. Furthermore, polycarbonate is more flexible, completely UV resistant and can withstand higher temperatures than Perspex, giving it an edge in demanding environments.
These differences determine their suitability for various uses depending on the required strength, durability, and aesthetic needs.
