What is Acrylic/Perspex
Acrylic is a clear plastic material that combines being lightweight with strength and durability. It offers high transparency similar to glass but is easier to handle and process, making it a widely used substitute for glass in many applications.
Can Acrylic sheets be cut to size?
Yes, we offer precise cut-to-size acrylic sheets to suit your exact requirements. Simply enter the dimensions required when placing your order. We also have CNC and Laser Machines available for more custom designs.
What thicknesses are available?
We stock a broad range of thicknesses, typically from thin sheets around 1.5 mm up to thicker panels of 50 mm. Availability may vary depending on the colour or finish selected.
What Colour options are available?
There is a wide variety of options, including:
- Clear sheets
- Opal or frosted (milky) finishes
- Solid colours
- Black and white sheets
- Tinted options such as grey, smoke, or bronze
Please note that not every colour is available in every thickness.
Is Acrylic suitable for outdoor use and UV resistant?
Yes, our acrylic sheets are UV-resistant and designed to perform well in outdoor conditions. They maintain their clarity and colour over time without yellowing under normal exposure.
Are the Acrylic sheets protected?
Absolutely! Each sheet is supplied with a protective film on both sides to prevent scratches during handling and transport. We recommend leaving this film in place until installation is complete.
How accurate are the cut sizes?
We cut all sheets with a high level of precision, typically within ±1 mm. For applications requiring a very tight fit, we recommend allowing a small tolerance to accommodate natural material expansion.
Can you provide additional machining or customisation?
Yes, we can assist with a range of custom machining options, including drilling, internal cut-outs, rounded edges, chamfering, polishing, CNC routing, Laser cutting and custom shapes. If you have specific requirements, feel free to get in touch with our team.
Are the edges polished?
Standard sheets are supplied with clean, machine-cut edges. If you require a polished or more refined edge finish, this can be arranged as an additional service.
Can Acrylic be used instead of glass?
In many cases, yes. Acrylic is significantly lighter and more impact-resistant than glass, making it a safer and more versatile alternative. However, it is more prone to surface scratches, so care should be taken during cleaning and handling.
Is Acrylic scratch-resistant?
While acrylic is durable, it is not completely scratch-proof. To keep your sheet looking its best, we recommend cleaning with a soft cloth and avoiding abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
