Plastic materials supplied by Hills Plastic

Perspex (Acrylic)

Perspex, also known as Acrylic sheet or PMMA (Polymethyl Methacrylate), is a lightweight, transparent plastic material widely used as a durable alternative to glass. It offers excellent optical clarity, high impact resistance, and long-term weather performance, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. Perspex is easy to fabricate, cut, drill, and thermoform, allowing it to be tailored to a wide range of design, industrial, and protective uses. It is offered in an extensive selection of standard sizes and thicknesses, including various colors and tints.

Polycarbonate (Lexan)

Polycarbonate is a high‑performance thermoplastic material known for its exceptional impact resistance, toughness, and versatility. It is commonly used where strength, safety, and durability are critical, while still offering good optical clarity. Unlike Perspex (Acrylic), Polycarbonate is virtually unbreakable under normal conditions, making it the preferred choice for safety glazing, machine guarding, and high‑impact environments. It can be cold‑bent, thermoformed, machined, and fastened, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial and commercial applications.

High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)

High Density Polyethylene, commonly known as HDPE, is a tough, lightweight thermoplastic known for its excellent chemical resistance, moisture resistance and impact strength. It is widely used in industrial, food‑grade, and outdoor applications where durability and low maintenance are required. Its durability makes it a fitting choice for a range of applications including water tanks, chute linings, and various industrial uses.

Corflute

Corflute is a lightweight, durable, and cost-effective twin-wall plastic sheet made from polypropylene. Its fluted internal structure provides strength while keeping the material extremely light. Corflute is widely used for signage, packaging, and temporary applications due to its weather resistance and ease of handling.

Polypropylene

Polypropylene demonstrates exceptional chemical resistance across a broad spectrum of acids, bases, and solvents, even at elevated operating temperatures. Notably lightweight, Polypropylene surpasses HDPE in physical strength. Its combination of rigidity, high surface hardness, gloss, strength, and operating temperature, along with ease of fabrication, forming, and welding, positions it as an ideal choice for applications requiring corrosion resistance.

Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE)

Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) exhibits exceptional wear and abrasion resistance, along with remarkable impact strength, even in temperatures below -200°C. UHMWPE showcases excellent chemical resistance, low moisture absorption, a minimal coefficient of friction, and superior anti-stick properties. Widely applied in high-wear scenarios, it finds use in applications ranging from conveyor wear strips to guide rails and scraper blades for road roller equipment.

Aluminium Composite Panel (ACM)

The Aluminum Composite Panel comprises a thermoplastic polyethylene core sandwiched between two flat aluminum panels. This bonding of the polyethylene core between the aluminum sheets results in an exceptionally lightweight, flat, smooth, and sturdy rigid sheet. Aluminum Composite can be sculpted, folded, and rolled without experiencing issues such as deformation, wrinkling, or delamination.

PVC

PVC is a highly versatile and cost-effective thermoplastic widely used across construction, signage, and industrial applications. Known for its durability, chemical resistance, and ease of fabrication, PVC performs reliably in both indoor and outdoor environments and offers excellent adaptability for a wide range of commercial and industrial uses.

Prismatic

Prismatic acrylic is a specialised acrylic sheet engineered to diffuse and evenly distribute light across a surface. Its precision-textured prismatic pattern reduces glare while maintaining high light transmission, improving both efficiency and visual comfort. Lightweight, durable, and easy to fabricate, prismatic acrylic is widely used in lighting, signage, and architectural applications where consistent illumination and performance are critical.

Rods & Tubes

Plastic rods and tubes are available in a range of engineering plastics, including Acrylic, HDPE, and Nylon. They are widely used across industrial, commercial, and fabrication applications due to their versatility, machinability, and broad range of sizes. Each material offers unique performance characteristics, making them suitable for applications requiring strength, durability, corrosion resistance, or visual appeal.
